If you see suspicious or illegal activity, call 911 immediately to report the situation.  This is the only way Police can respond to and track your concern.

Be alert and look around and remember there is safety in numbers.  When alone, avoid wearing headphones or talking on your cell phone.  Adopt a frame of mind that allows you to recognize and avoid potential threats on the street.

You can also help prevent crime anonymously by using the CPD’s “TXT2TIP” program.   The TXT2TIP program was created so that a person can anonymously and safely help prevent crime in their community by sending information to the Chicago Police Department via a text message from a cellular phone. You will automatically receive a system-generated message back on your cell phone acknowledging your tip. Your identity will not be sent to the Chicago Police Department.Follow these easy steps to submit a tip via text message:

• Create a new text message or SMS text on your cellular phone

• Enter the number 274637 (CRIMES) in the "TO" line

• In the message box, type the word CPD, a space, and then your crime tip information

• Hit "send" to send the text message

Please attend your local CAPS meeting.  Share your concerns and get to know your Beat Officers.
